Grey ink mixed and rolled on the wood block — ready to print.

After running through the press, the grey color is printed.

Only the brightest parts of the print are cut away from the grey block – the top of the umbrella, background awnings and foreground snow highlights.

This print will be two colors – black and grey, so each color needs its own wood block.  Here both blocks are carved and ready for proofing.

Just starting work on Grey December. I’ve drawn the picture on the wood block and started to cut away the street area.
