Just started the sketch for this new print.

 

Grey ink mixed and rolled on the wood block — ready to print.

After running through the press, the grey color is printed.

Only the brightest parts of the print are cut away from the grey block – the top of the umbrella, background awnings and foreground snow highlights.

 

This print will be two colors – black and grey, so each color needs its own wood block.  Here both blocks are carved and ready for proofing.
